Challenger 65V on eBay

Post by CommodoreZ »

I don't suppose anyone here just won this beautiful dealer demo unit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/176181401961
400, 4x 420, 440, 470 -- this thing was an interesting piece of kit.
I'm curious what's on that single EPROM, 65A or what.

Nice early system. I wonder who did get it and what they will do with it. Here's hoping the winner will post something here or elsewhere.

I was the second place bidder on this one. I could have gone farther but I set my last bid to $1350ish. I was pretty sure I'd lose and was good with that. I thought it would go for s lot more. These things are getting to be too expensive, and I already have a unbuilt 400 board. I just thought the dealer info and case design was amazing. I didn't even realize there was a 'Challenger' before the 1p. Took my several days to realize it had a 400 board in it.

Never seen one of these before.. Im assuming the number produced would be vanishingly low?

I've seen one before at a VCF a decade ago, but wasn't in the know about OSI stuff at the time to appreciate what I was seeing.

There don't seem to be too many out there in the wild.

The "1P" was actually a later Challenger model, introduced after the Challenger, the Challenger IIS (serial), the C2-4P and C2-8P, and at least one model of Challenger III. The C4P/C8P and the Series II C1P were introduced later, and were more like upgrades to the C2/C4/C1P lines.
