Re: Building the KLyball 600D
In the immortal words of Rod Stewart: Tonight's, the night! It's gonna be alright!...
Tonight i shall be stuffing, not only my face with pop corn watching the original "West World" on my 8' movie screen,
but also my 600 REV.D board with my newly acquired set of 2716 EPROMs, and all the other chips required to generate video.
From there, who knows.... I'm hoping everything goes great. I will post any successes and or issues as I go. I decided to start
with the SYN600 Monitor. Eproms generously donated (along with about 70% of the TTL on my board) by Josh Bensadon. The
same Josh B who produced that very cool document on OSI key switch repairs. (check it out).
Ok so I'm hoping everything goes ok.
I'm still waiting on my MX keyswitches, I ordered enough to do 3 keyboards... The REV. D, the 542c, and perhaps something else.
wish me luck

Re: Building the KLyball 600D
Pointing to top left? If so.... spitballing here... check your chargen. The top-left-pointing tank is character 255 ($FF), which just so happens to be the value of a blank 2716 Eprom.

Re: Building the KLyball 600D
The super board II rev D manual said it should be a page of tanks at the stage I was at. (Video section test). The chargen rom wouldn't be blank, as it is required to generate the tank character. Sunday I will finish stuffing the board and more shall be revealed.
:0). Thanks for your help thus far, very much appreciated!

Re: Building the KLyball 600D
so I finished stuffing the board for the next test, and it seemed to pass, sort of?
I get a bunch of random characters (in a more familiar 24 x 24 character display.
during this test it did not auto reset, and I could not see the D/M/C/ prompt,
it could be that the 393 is not put in the socket at this time for some reason?
but if I short out break, the screen does clear. I will check the video with a scope
to see if there is something off screen. It currently has only the 1k of ram, I will add
more later today and do more test...
