Help with boards found in C3-OEM

Post by lowrybt1 »

In the process of disassembling a C3, I’ve encountered a few boards I’ve never heard of before. Hoping someone has. They are:

CCS Exec-80 (D&N Board # 1506 Rev A). It’s a fascinating item. Appears to include:
Z-80A CPU
Centronics port onboard
25 pin for attachment of an A-13/A-12 floppy adapter (presumably)
onboard edge connector for connection of floppy drives
A ROM reading D&N SMON Ver 1.4 (c) 1984

A D&N 1564. This appears to be a memory board populated with 6116 RAM, perhaps with some unpopulated I/O options I can’t quite identify -- maybe a floppy interface??

Here are some pics

Answering my own question part.... From a 1984 advertisement in Peek(65) it looks as if the D&N 1506/Exec-80 board does the following:

Allows use of OSI static ram and other I/O boards (incl floppy drives) to run IBM 3740 compatible C/PM. Hence the onboard Z-80. Includes a Centronics port bolted to the board, a card-edge adapter for connecting to floppy drives and the traditional OSI 24-pin connector for floppy connections. The board supports double-density storage on the floppies and includes a real-time clock (not battery backed-up far as I can tell). Apparently, it was/is possible to configure the board to interface with Winchester hard-drives of the day.

Manual for D&N CMOS-MEM Board

Post by lowrybt1 »

I’m looking for a copy of the manual that would have shipped with the D&N Micro Products CMOS-MEM expansion board (aka the 1564 D&N Board). This is not the same as the CM9 manual posted elsewhere on this site. I tried contacting the former president of D&N with no success. When searching the web, I get lots of hits for advertisements in Micro and Peek(65) marketing the CMOS-MEM but no luck finding a manual. Any leads will be most appreciated!

I checked the pile of documentation Dave had me pick up, no luck!

Sounds like a cool Z80 board, I'd thought about doing a dedicated OSI Z80 SBC but dropped the idea after getting my OSI 510 board going. We've got a late-rev 510 board that I still need to have scanned, uses a 2716 instead of 1702As.

the 510 using 2716s would be a cool addition!
