Hi Walter,

Is it possible the picture is too large? What happens if you resize the image and try again? For example, I just tried to attache Jeff's photo of his board, and it attached just fine. It's 1.6 MB. (I have since edited to delete it.)

Many cameras and phones will routinely take photos larger than 5 MB, and that may be the issue. What is happening when you are unable to post? Are you selecting the file, and it's not showing up as an attachment?

i prefer forums to facebook groups.
but there is an OSI facebook group which is neat. :)

here is my progress so far...
just wondering about capacitors, sometimes it specifies high voltage caps when clearly the voltage will never get beyond 5 volts.
can i use lower voltage caps? 200 volts instead of 1000? that sort of thing.... at any rate, here she is:

Very nice!

Regarding the caps, in general for the situation you described, you should be able to go with lower voltage caps. As a rule of thumb, you will be fine if you're more than double the max expected voltage. I wonder why a 1000V cap would have been specified(!). What circuit is it in?

Cheers,

it's in the REV D. parts list:
C57 27PFD 1KV 10%

also I think the REV. B has a few of these larger Voltage caps
in a few placed. :)

I've decided to use the Superboard_II_Assembly_Instructions.pdf to build this computer.
and the values assigned by it. :) So i will be back tracking a bit. Just to verify all is well.

:)I'm hoping to finish this computer before mid April. :)

Q1 and Q2 on the board....
the schematic and the transister placement do not appear to line up?

the Emitter and collector seem to be reversed on both?
in the schematic the Q1 Emitter goes to R72 and collector to R65 half watt 1K resister....
in the placement, image posted earlier with all the placements indicators over the motherboard image,
seems to tell a different story... same issue with Q2.... help? I dont like transisters...

Can you post some close ups of the area with the transistors in question?

I will post some close ups, in the mean time, i just soldered them in based on the schematic,
and for the 2N3906/3904's i had, the flat side faced east as indicated in the Superboard II contruction document. :)

on another front, does anyone have any spare MX locking switches for the REV D board? Did anyone buy any extra's?
if so, happy to pay what ever you think they are worth, or I may have to resort to this little circuit, making use of the non
toggle and a bit of track cutting.... This is the smallest circuit i could find, i would use this with the LED, and a tiny 5 volt relay.
usually those have a toggle on them so when not engaged (less current) i can have it in the lock position by default, and engage
it to remove the caps lock. here is what I as thinking: replacing D4 with a tiny 5volt relay....it will produce a nice click as if it
was coming from the switch itself....

with one of these on the output:
