Yes, the LED mounts onto the switch. Most keycaps (including the custom set) don't have an LED window, but the white inner layer of the double-shot keycaps reflects the LED back to the PCB, so you can see a glow around the key. You could also consider drilling a hole in the keyca, filling with a translucent plastic resin or a light pipe, and polishing flush, if you are good at that sort of thing.

Yes, you learn something new every day. Didn't know that an LED can be feed through these cherry switches.
I changed out the reset capacitor again for a 1uf and now I feel the reset timing is more realistic for my needs.
Just waiting for some more keyswitches, and keycaps to arrive from AliExpress.
The last thing I need to do now is sort out my video sync issue. Will start a new thread for that one if I can't figure it out easily.
