Ok, so my C1P enclosure will remain as it is, but the disk enclosure will have wood sides.
So a C1PMF had the same disk drive, with wood sides, as the C4P?

No, the C1P MF had metal sides for both the CPU and disk drive cases.

The C4P MF had wood sides for both.

Today, I tidied up the power wiring and added two 4-pin sockets on the rear right... (CB radio microphone plug/sockets )
12v and 5v DC in each socket, for periferals.
Pin1 12v, pin2 0v, pin3 0v, pin4 5v

On the left rear, 3x RCA sockets installed for:

(1)Video out
(2) Cassette Tape Audio IN
(3) Cassette Tape Audio OUT

I also installed a rotary switch for selecting the ACIA routing to:
(1) Audio Tape
(2) Printer (600 baud)
(3) Printer (1200 baud)
(4) Modem (1200baud)
(5) Modem (4800 baud?)

(Still need to figure all this out, and wire up the DB25's internally)

And, I started designing the enclosure for the MPI 51 floppy disk drive. For visual design ques, I searched and searched for a picture:
I only found ONE advert for the C1P-MF...

Thinking about how to incorporate the Gotek into the enclosure:
Maybe a 2nd "dummy" 3D printed MPI 51 facia, next to the actual drive, with the Gotek mounted in it, recessed behind a psuedo disk door / flap....

that's a pretty hefty aluminium housing. You probably never will experience any grounding or shielding issues

A Faraday cage it is!

Today, just for fun, I decided to put the finishig touches on the case. (it's raining so I can't play outside )
I made some "badges" (3D printed), that "almost" replicate the original.

Seeing that I don't plan on painting the case, it will stay "silver", but a silver badge on the front would not be ideal... Why not GOLD?
So, by carefull application of some gold leaf on the front badge... Voila!

The rear "power" badge, was quite challenging, as it is small, so it tested the limits of the resolution of my printer...(if you look closely, little 'z' in the Hz unit at bottom right, did not print)...
The bage is printed from black plastic, and it received some silver highlights, which contrasts nicely...
The original were cast in Zinc, I think...

Slapping some 21st Centrury, 3D PRINTED bages on a 40+ year old, 20th Century design, tickles me

Inside, it is nice and tidy, with easy access to all the circuit boards, by just removing the top cover...
(thanksThomas for reminding me, how painfull it was to access the boards on the original!!)

As a result of the 610 disk interface board being mounted above the 600D "motherboard", and not below it, as on the original, the 610 board needed to be mounted as close as possible...to clear the top cover from interfereing with the components. The keyboard has to "protrude" through the top cover and this limits the available height. I had to make a "custom" 40-way ribbon cable. I had to solder a 40-pin socket to the underside of the 600D (under J1) (there is nice clearance under the board), and therefore a custom "reversed" connection on the one end of the ribbon cable was required.

The Gotek fits nicely behind the door of the 3D printable MPI51 facia...
