I also have some original C1P disks that I prepared using rawdump, going up on the site with other accumulated material when I have a chance.

Did you ever get your system to boot from a disk, which is the issue that started this thread?
I am impressed that you were able to get the OS running from a "serialed" copy, without booting it from a disk. Did you try writing out the tracks/sectors of the disk you want to use from within that running OS, using the SAve command, rather than recreating the track format with other software? At least that way you would know that the tracks are formatted just right, including any time delays.
